God’s people responding to God’s call

We continued looking at the book of Exodus and although it would be easy to think God had forgotten His plan and the promise He made to Abraham, we saw how Moses was the next part of God fulfilling His covenant. Simon showed us through this passage that God speaks to His people and reminded us that He still speaks today. He knows your name and His call requires a response, but He will always be with you.

Simon challenged us to think about how we are called to Obedience, we're called to Trust and we are called to Expectant Action. Obedience will not always be instant or easy; we saw how Moses struggled at first to understand and accept what God was calling Him to do, but in the end He was obedient. God works in and through our obedience - so, if we want to see God work, we might have to 'take off our shoes'. But God is trustworthy! We can be confident that what He says will come to pass, even if He moves in ways we don't expect. "When you cannot see the hand of God, you've got to trust the heart of God." And when we step out in obedience and trust, we can go with an expectation that we will see God at work. Moses saying, "I will go" changed the course of history, but it all started with obedience to and trust in God.

Perhaps now more than ever, we as a church and as individuals are being called to trust and obey and to give God room to do what only He can do.
