Journeying with Jesus

Yesterday, we celebrated Palm Sunday! We have been travelling with Jesus and his disciples through the gospel of Luke and as they enter the city of Jerusalem, we see Jesus at a real high point of recognition. With palm branches waving, shouts of people praising their Messiah and cloaks creating a path, it seems this is the moment everyone had been waiting for.

Yet, for Jesus, this was not a destination but a journey of long obedience in the same direction and a journey that we know was not finished yet. Jesus continued teaching his disciples what it meant to follow him, to have perseverance in faith, especially during tough times. It can be easy to find ourselves praising God less during tough times, but as we saw in this passage, all of creation was made to praise God. Worship, therefore, is not based on our circumstances but based on who God is.

At the start of Holy week, we have the opportunity to stop and reflect. "Where am I, on my journey with Jesus?" Let's be intentional, reflecting not only about our journey with Jesus, but also about the people who are journeying with us and those who are not on the journey yet. As we walk with Jesus, let's allow His heart of passion and compassion for others to grow in our own hearts, asking ourselves: "With whom can I share the message of Easter?"🌴
