God’s transforming power
It was wonderful to join with Louise both in person and as a scattered church to celebrate her baptism yesterday! Baptism is an outward display of an inner change. We thought together about how many changes in our lives we could attribute to God; changes to our character and identity, changes during seasons or moments in our life, or wisdom in decision making that has led us to a certain place. We can give God our whole future, everything in our past and we can walk with Him in our present.
In this passage in Ephesians, we explored the power that God has. The same power to put stars in the sky is also the power to change each of our hearts, giving us new identity as citizens of heaven. We can see God revealing His power through history when we read the Bible, through creation as we look at the world around us, but most importantly through His son, Jesus. Because of Jesus we have the ultimate gift of power: the power to know God, to persevere in this life and to be filled with joy and love!
The power to know God is life transforming. We are given a firm foundation to build our life upon and we can trust Him with our deepest and darkest moments, fears and dreams. As we know God more deeply, we have the chance to experience just how much He loves us! He wants us to know Him more, and with this knowledge grows our grasp of just how much He loves us. His power is at work in us for us to live out of that love, growing and flourishing as children of God.🥕
